Springer seals a final-ball victory
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons opened the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League with a final-ball victory over Jamaica Kingsmen at Arnos Vale. Chasing 168, the Falcons needed six from the last over before two wickets in two balls gave the Kingsmen one final chance.
Hunain Shah had Jahmar Hamilton and Usama Mir caught on the boundary, but Shamar Springer returned for a second run from the final delivery after a misfield at long-on. The result and fixture details are available in the Jamaica Kingsmen vs Falcons match centre.
Tajinder Singh anchors the pursuit
Tajinder Singh made 62 from 37 balls and shared a 64-run third-wicket partnership with Tim Robinson. Rahkeem Cornwall had earlier provided an assertive start before the Falcons' middle order lost wickets often enough to keep Jamaica in the contest.
Andre Russell dismissed Robinson for his 100th CPL wicket and later removed Singh for number 101. Keemo Paul finished with 3 for 29, while Russell's one-over spells helped the Kingsmen take the chase into the final over. The winning side's tournament information is on the Falcons team page.
Kingsmen post 167 for 7
Jamaica reached 167 for 7 after a measured 47 from captain Rovman Powell and a rapid 42 from 25 balls by Reeza Hendricks on his CPL debut. Hendricks accelerated during a 28-run sixth over, while the innings added 54 in its final four overs.
Alzarri Joseph led the Falcons attack with 3 for 34. Jayden Seales returned 1 for 19 and Usama Mir took 1 for 17, including a three-run 16th over that delayed Jamaica's late acceleration. Squad details can be found on the Jamaica Kingsmen team page.
Falcons take the first points of 2026
The victory gives Antigua and Barbuda the opening win of the seven-team season, while Jamaica begin their return to the competition with a narrow defeat. Both sides remain in St Vincent for further matches during the opening leg.
The early standings and net run-rate positions will be tracked on the CPL 2026 points table.
