Falcons survive the drops at Queen's Park Oval

Antigua & Barbuda Falcons beat Trinbago Knight Riders by eight runs at Queen's Park Oval in CPL 2026, posting 183 for 4 and holding the hosts short in the final game of the season at the ground. The defeat was a third in a row for the Knight Riders, who lost four of the five matches in their home leg.

Evin Lewis and Rahkeem Cornwall put on 40 for the first wicket before Cornwall chopped on to Usman Tariq, the spinner's 17th consecutive CPL match with a wicket. The Falcons reached 43 for 1 from the Powerplay, helped by the home side's catching: Lewis was dropped on 16 by Terrance Hinds and Moeen Ali on 1 by Akeal Hosein.

Nawaz builds the Falcons innings

Hasan Nawaz took charge from there. He reached his half-century from 36 balls, went after the Knight Riders seamers and treated Sunil Narine and Tariq with more care, picking his match-ups well. He made 76 before Alex Hales held the catch off Lahiru Kumara.

Moeen, living on his second chance, stayed with the innings to the end and found the boundary off the last ball to close the Falcons on 183 for 4. It was a total the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons attack could defend, but only just.

Cornwall and James defend 183 for the Falcons

The Knight Riders came hard in the Powerplay, taking 63 runs, but they lost four wickets doing it. Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran both got starts and both fell to Cornwall, who took 3 for 17 in a spell that changed the shape of the chase. Kieron Pollard, playing through an injury, then put on 55 with Joshua Da Silva to keep the home side in touch with five overs left.

Joshua James claimed the big wicket, Pollard caught smartly by Jayden Seales, and James then defended the final over with runs in hand. Da Silva hit the last ball for six to finish 54 not out, but it only narrowed the margin. The win takes the Falcons back to the top of the CPL 2026 points table and leaves TKR's play-off place in real danger.
