Trinbago chose to field and quickly reduced Guyana to 19 for 2. Akeal Hosein removed Glenn Phillips before debutant Lahiru Kumara dismissed Shai Hope, giving the home side control of the early exchanges.
Rain arrived with the Warriors on 22 for 2 and eventually reduced the contest to 16 overs per side. The interruption changed the rhythm of the innings, but it also gave Hetmyer a clear target for the remaining overs. The result strengthened Guyana's position on the CPL 2026 points table.
Hetmyer explodes in his 100th CPL match
Hetmyer accelerated rapidly after the restart, reaching fifty before launching an extraordinary final assault. He took 30 runs from Kumara's 13th over and combined with Romario Shepherd as Guyana collected 85 from the last four overs.
The left-hander reached his century in 40 balls, matching the CPL record, and finished unbeaten on 111 from 43 deliveries with eight fours and nine sixes. Nabi and Joseph close out the defence
Trinbago's adjusted target was 182. Glenn Phillips produced a one-handed boundary catch to remove Sunil Narine, and Mohammad Nabi dismissed Colin Munro before ending Nicholas Pooran's counterattack on 43.
Alex Hales kept the chase alive with 55 from 24 balls, including seven sixes, but Shamar Joseph bowled him before the final over.
