A 96-run opening stand with Colin Munro turned a tricky Queen's Park Oval surface into a comfortable home victory.

In brief

Narine controls the match with ball and bat

  • Sunil Narine took 2 for 14 as Barbados Tridents were restricted to 127 for 9.
  • Narine made 55 from 33 balls in a tournament-best 96-run opening partnership with Colin Munro.
  • Trinbago Knight Riders reached 128 for 3 in 14.5 overs to win by seven wickets.

Spin squeezes Barbados from the start

Nicholas Pooran chose to bowl and immediately turned to spin on a surface offering grip. Barbados reached 31 for 1 after six overs, but Trinbago kept attacking with close catchers and denied the batters any sustained momentum.

Usman Tariq conceded only 11 runs in four overs and removed Zachary Carter for 28. Narine then returned 2 for 14, while Kieron Pollard removed two middle-order batters as wickets continued to interrupt the innings. Follow the competition picture on the CPL 2026 points table.

Narine and Munro break the chase open

Rivaldo Clarke's late 15 from seven balls lifted Barbados to 127 for 9, but the target quickly shrank under a fearless Trinbago powerplay. Narine and Colin Munro raced to 60 without loss in six overs, refusing to let the Tridents' spinners settle.

Their opening stand reached 96, the highest of the tournament at that point. Munro made 37 from 26 balls before Chris Green broke the partnership, and Narine followed soon after for 55 from 33. The Trinbago Knight Riders team page tracks the defending champions' campaign.

Pollard and Goolie finish with time to spare

Barbados also dismissed Pooran, but the result was already beyond reach. Pollard and Jyd Goolie completed the chase at 128 for 3 in 14.5 overs, giving Trinbago victory with 31 balls unused.

Knight Riders return to Queen's Park Oval against Jamaica Kingsmen, while Barbados next face St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The remaining dates are listed on the CPL schedule, with ground information in the Queen's Park Oval guide.
