Jamaica need a cleaner middle-overs performance
The Kingsmen came within one delivery of opening their first CPL season with a victory. They made 167/7 against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons before the Falcons reached 168/8 from the final ball of the chase.
Jamaica showed enough in that match to suggest their batting can be dangerous, but the innings lost momentum through the middle overs. That matters against Barbados because Chris Green, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and George Linde give the Tridents several ways to slow the scoring rate and attack favourable match-ups.
Rovman Powell and Andre Russell remain Jamaica’s major power options, while Keacy Carty, Reeza Hendricks, Shayan Jahangir, Shaqkere Parris and Kirk McKenzie provide alternatives higher in the order. The priority is to preserve enough wickets for Powell and Russell to attack rather than forcing them to rebuild.
Jamaica’s overseas availability remains phased. Hassan Khan, Hunain Shah, Shayan Jahangir and Tayyab Arif form the announced opening-phase group, while Saim Ayub, Maaz Sadaqat and Usman Khan are scheduled to join from 19 August. Barbados bring back the Tridents with a new-look squad
The Barbados Tridents name returns to the CPL in 2026, and the squad has been built around a versatile bowling core. Chris Green leads the side and offers control with off-spin, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman, George Linde and Daniel Sams give Barbados different options across the powerplay, middle overs and death.

Jamaica have already played a competitive match at Arnos Vale and were one delivery away from winning it. That familiarity is valuable, and the Kingsmen possess enough finishing power through Powell, Russell, Keemo Paul and Odean Smith to punish Barbados if wickets are preserved.
