A new season under the Tridents name
Barbados return to the Tridents identity in 2026 after five seasons as the Royals. The overseas group gives the relaunched side an experienced opener, three spin options and a left-arm seam-bowling all-rounder.
De Kock can keep wicket and set the powerplay tempo. Green and Linde lengthen the batting, Mujeeb attacks with the new ball or through the middle, and Sams offers pace plus late-order hitting.
Depth around Powell, Holder and Athanaze
Rovman Powell, Jason Holder and Alick Athanaze anchor the West Indian group. Their presence allows Barbados to choose overseas players according to the surface rather than use one fixed combination.
A spin-heavy side could field Green, Mujeeb and Linde together. A batting-led selection could pair de Kock with Sams and use Holder’s seam bowling to keep the attack balanced.
Kensington Oval shapes the campaign
Barbados play their first league match in Jamaica on 11 August. Their home block at Kensington Oval arrives in September and leads into four playoff matches at the same ground.
Repeated cricket at Kensington may reward teams that read changing conditions quickly. Barbados have built enough variety to alter their spin and seam mix without weakening the batting.
