Kensington Oval history and CPL role

Kensington Oval is the historic centre of cricket in Barbados. Pickwick Cricket Club developed former plantation land into a ground in 1882, and the Oval hosted the first Test played in the West Indies when the regional side met England in 1930.

Redeveloped for the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, Kensington hosted that tournament's final and later the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 final. Its stands and ends honour generations of Barbadian greats, including Sir Garfield Sobers, the Three Ws, Malcolm Marshall and Joel Garner.

CPL 2026 gives the Oval its largest venue allocation: five league matches, the Eliminator, both Qualifiers and the final on 20 September. It is the first time Barbados hosts CPL finals week.
