In brief

- Jamaica Empress were restricted to 100 for 9 from their 20 overs at Kensington Oval.

Ramharack strangles the Empress innings at Kensington Oval
Trinbago Knight Riders stayed unbeaten in the Limacol WCPL 2026 with a nine-wicket win over Jamaica Empress at Kensington Oval, and the game was won with the ball. Sent in to bat, the Empress lost two wickets from successive deliveries in the second over, one of them former Australia captain Meg Lanning, and never recovered any momentum.
Rashada Williams resisted with a patient 40 from 47 balls, but support was thin. Chinelle Henry, who had starred in the Empress' debut win, finished unbeaten on 22 as they closed on 100 for 9. Karishma Ramharack was the pick of the attack, her control bringing 3 for 11 from four overs and the Player of the Match award.
Bhatia takes the chase apart in the powerplay
A target of 101 was never going to test Trinbago if they started well, and Yastika Bhatia made sure of it. Opening the innings, she batted through unbeaten for 57 from 34 balls, scoring quickly enough that the chase was effectively settled inside the first few overs.
The only wicket to fall was Laura Harris, stumped off a sharply turning ball from Nonkululeko Mlaba with the score on 35 at the end of the fifth over. Captain Deandra Dottin joined Bhatia and hit 22 from 15 balls, the pair adding an unbeaten 69 to wrap the match up with 53 balls unused. There was no late twist and no need of the middle order; once the field spread, the two simply kept the rate ticking, took the singles on offer and waited for the bad ball.
Empress regroup while Knight Riders roll on
It is two wins from two for the Knight Riders, whose bowling has set the early standard in this year's tournament. They face Guyana Amazon Warriors next in what already looks like a meeting between the two strongest attacks in the competition.
The Empress still have a game in hand and will look to respond against the Barbados Tridents in their next outing. Check the CPL schedule for the remaining WCPL fixtures in Barbados, and read how the Tridents later edged the Empress by three runs.
