Falcons chase 171 to lift the CPL 2026 trophy

Antigua & Barbuda Falcons are CPL champions for the first time. They beat Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in the CPL 2026 final at Kensington Oval, chasing 171 with 20 balls unused and sparking wild celebrations from their players and supporters.

The Kingsmen will wonder how they lost. Maaz Sadaqat played the innings of his life, scoring 114 and reaching his hundred from 49 balls, the first century ever made in a CPL final. His effort carried Jamaica to 170 for 9, a total that looked competitive. It was not enough, because the Falcons had the best bowler on the night and two calm batters at the end.

Moqim turns the final in 12 balls

Jamaica started fast. Sadaqat drove the first ball of the match into the stands, and even with Kirk McKenzie and Keacy Carty gone, the Kingsmen reached 59 for 2 from the Power Play. Sadaqat raced to fifty in 27 balls and the innings was in Jamaica's hands.

Then Sufyan Moqim changed everything. The left-arm spinner removed Saim Ayub and Rovman Powell in his first over, Shadab Khan took out Romaine Morris, and Moqim struck again to remove Hassan Khan. Four wickets fell for three runs in 12 balls. Sadaqat kept swinging at the other end and dragged his side to 170, but Moqim's 4 for 14 had taken the game away from the Kingsmen.

Cornwall's start and the Jangoo-Nawaz stand

Rahkeem Cornwall made sure the chase never became tense. He smashed 20 runs from the first over before being bowled by its last ball, and Evin Lewis kept attacking after surviving a chance when Andre Russell overstepped. The Falcons were 76 for 1 after six overs, well ahead of the rate.

Lewis chopped on off Vitel Lawes, but that was Jamaica's last success. Amir Jangoo brought up a composed fifty and, with Hasan Nawaz, added an unbroken 89 for the third wicket. Nawaz launched the winning six over the boundary to finish the match. The title also completes a remarkable season for the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, who now join the names on the CPL winners list.
