Kingsmen reach the CPL 2026 final in their comeback year

Jamaica Kingsmen beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by five wickets in CPL 2026 Qualifier 2 at Kensington Oval, chasing down 207 in 19.4 overs to reach Sunday's final. In the year Jamaica returned to the competition, the Kingsmen now stand one win from the title, with Antigua & Barbuda Falcons waiting for them.

Guyana had set the game up perfectly. Shimron Hetmyer's second hundred of the season lifted them to 206 for 4, and a side with runs on the board in a knockout game usually backs its bowlers. Jamaica refused to be squeezed, though, and this time Hetmyer's brilliance ended in defeat.

Hetmyer hundred drags Warriors to 206 for 4

The Warriors innings began slowly. They were 37 for 2 after the Power Play, an uneasy echo of the previous day, when the Falcons bowled them out for 76. Hetmyer made sure there was no repeat. He attacked with raw power, hitting more sixes than fours and getting solid backing from Shai Hope and Quentin Sampson.

Hetmyer saved the best for the end. He brought up his century from the very last ball of the innings, slashing Andre Russell over third man for four after facing just 45 balls. The Warriors had 206, and a place in a fourth straight final looked within reach.

Sadaqat sets up the chase, Powell closes it out

The chase turned on the first few overs. Maaz Sadaqat tore into the new ball and made 41 from only 17 deliveries. When Khary Pierre held a steepling catch to remove him, the score was already 42 for 1, and almost every run had come from Sadaqat's bat. That start gave Keacy Carty and Kirk McKenzie the room to settle, and Carty's composed half-century kept the required rate under control.

There was late drama. Carty, Saim Ayub and Russell all fell in the closing overs and the nerves showed. Rovman Powell stayed calm at the crease, as he did when he led a Jamaican side to the title in 2022, and Hassan Khan hit the boundary that finished the job.
