Kingsmen crush Tridents in the CPL 2026 Eliminator
Jamaica Kingsmen saved their best performance of the season for the knockout rounds, beating Barbados Tridents by nine wickets in the CPL 2026 Eliminator at Kensington Oval. Maaz Sadaqat, at 21 the youngest centurion in CPL history, made 112 at the top of the order and turned a chase of 145 into a stroll.
Barbados had fought hard to post 144 for 6 after an awful start, and with home support behind them they still had hope at the innings break. Sadaqat removed that hope inside the first six overs, and the Tridents' season ended with a wide.
De Kock and Green rescue Tridents from 24 for 4
The Tridents innings began in pieces. Brandon King and Kevlon Anderson fell inside the first two overs, two more wickets went down by the end of the Power Play, and at 24 for 4 the ground had gone quiet. When Saim Ayub bowled Sherfane Rutherford with a beauty for the fifth wicket, Barbados were staring at a total under 100.
Quinton de Kock refused to panic. The tournament's leading run-scorer took his time, found the right partner in captain Chris Green, and the pair rebuilt the innings with a stand of 114. They added 95 runs in the second half of the innings. De Kock made 71 before sacrificing himself on the last ball, while Green finished unbeaten on 57.
Sadaqat's hundred ends the contest early
Any momentum Barbados carried into the field vanished quickly. Sadaqat attacked from the start, driving the Kingsmen to 79 without loss by the end of the Power Play. He reached his first fifty of the season in 22 balls and needed exactly twice as many for the first T20 hundred of his career. Kirk McKenzie, unbeaten on 22 at the end, happily fed him the strike.
No bowling change worked for Green. The spin that had hurt the Tridents earlier in the night was now being hit to every corner by the young Pakistan opener. Sadaqat finally skied a Daniel Sams slower ball and was caught by the bowler, applauded off by the home crowd. One run was needed, and a wide from Kevlon Anderson ended the match with 35 balls unused. The Jamaica Kingsmen advance to Qualifier 2, one win from the final.
